HHS Alumni Weekend October 7 & 8, 2011 Lots of fun activities are planned, beginning with the homecoming parade on Friday afternoon, Oct. 7. Classes ending in "1" and "6" are especially encouraged to consider entering a float in the parade. While you're downtown for the parade, be sure to look for displays in downtown windows honoring classes ending with "1" or "6". The homecoming football game and queen coronation will be held on Friday evening. All alumni are encouraged to pay a visit to memory lane by attending the game. The fifth annual alumni baseball game is at noon, Oct. 8. Any alumni interested in participating may contact coach Brent Hall at 417-260-2135. All proceeds will be used for improvements to the Tiger baseball field. On Saturday morning, the alumni breakfast has become a delicious tradition that shouldn't be missed. It is held at the Houston Senior Center and it is a delicious "down home" breakfast the kind you remember from your childhood. Stop in any time between 7 - 10 a.m. Make plans to meet former classmates there for breakfast together. The expanded alumni mixer, which last year replaced both the mixer and the alumni banquet, was so successful that it will be repeated this year. It will be held 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Houston High School Hiett Gymnasium. Come early and stay late! It is a great opportunity to visit not just with people from your own class, but also those from other classes. Around 3 p.m., there will be a short program for alumni updates and scholarship information. If your class ends with "1" or "6," you will be specially recognized at that time. Please be sure to select someone to speak for your class. Alumni yearly dues are $10. Please fill out the dues form found in this newsletter. We encourage everyone to pay dues prior to attending the mixer in October. Several classes will be planning reunions for Saturday evening. Class Reunion Plans

YOU Are Needed!!! There is a need for more alumni members to become involved in the activites of the organization during the year planning and preparing for alumni weekend, choosing scholarship winners, and preparing and mailing newsletters. Meetings are held the 4th Monday of each month, except May and December, at 7:00 p.m. in the library at First Baptist Church. We need YOU to be present!! Since these costs are increasing, we need your dues in order to continue with this project. Scholarship Donations Your donations to the scholarship endowment fund allow the association to award scholarship to graduating seniors.
